The Phillip's 2024 Tucson Trip

"The Tucson Gem, Mineral and Fossil Showcase are gem and mineral shows that take place annually from late January into February at multiple locations across the city of Tucson, Az. The key event of the showcase is the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show which took place from from February 8-11 this year.
This show has been held annually since 1955 when it began in an elementary school with an admission of 25 cents. Over 1500 people attended making it a huge success. The following year it was moved to the Tucson City Fair and Rodeo Grounds and doubled attendance.
Almost 70 years later it is now held at the Tucson Convention Center with about 1300 dealers from 49 states and 32 countries and an attendance of over 65,000. The showcase is one of the single highest revenue producing events for the Tucson economy with an estimated impact of $131.4 million. It is still a bargain today at $13 admission.
The theme of this year’s show was Pegmatites: Crystals Big & Beautiful. These pictures are some of the exhibit cases which we thought members might enjoy."
