Our November monthly meeting is “Partial melting in root of mountain belt: an example of anatectic eclogites from western Grenville Province”, presented by Wentao Cao, an Assistant Professor in Geology at SUNY Fredonia.

From Dr. Cao:

“I obtained my Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, and M.S.& B.S. from China University of Geosciences (Beijing). I utilize metamorphic petrology to unravel geological and petrological processes in various geological settings.

My past research was on rocks from Tibetan Plateau and North-East Greenland. After moving to Fredonia in 2017, I started working on high-grade metamorphic rocks from the Grenville Province, in addition to active research on rocks from Tibet and Greenland.”

The meeting will be held on Friday, November 1st at 7:00pm at the Heritage Discovery Center, 100 Lee Street, Buffalo, NY 14210.
