Photos from Buffalo Geological Society Trip on July 27, 2016- Buffalo, NY

Photos from Buffalo Geological Society Trip on July 27 to Almond, NY to hunt for sponges.

We were working in the  Canaseraga Sandstone-Caneadea Shale which is a part of the Upper Devonian Machias Formation.  Our group included Craig Posmantur, Joe Sullivan, George Schwartzott, Walt Drabek, Jerry Bastedo and Paul Leuchner.  Fossils of Sea Pens (Plumalina plumaria Hall, 1858) were found along with a few Glass Sponges (Clathospongiasp.).

A group photo is attached.  Shown in the group from left to right is  Paul Leuchner, Walt Drabek, George Schwartzott, Joe Sullivan and Craig Posmantur (photo by Jerry Bastedo).  In the second photo Walt Drabek and Joe Sullivan are marveling over a Sea Pens they had just unearthed (photo by Paul Leuchner).
